It was an *incredible* wedding weekend that spanned 4 days, all at
a Lake Tahoe private residence in Incline Village Nevada. Starting
with a Thursday night dinner party with a local DJ for our early arriving
guests and family that lasted WAY into night, followed by a rehearsal dinner
party Friday with highlights of Hollye's mom Sallye sitting in with the
band on her ukulele, punctuated by the wedding day Saturday:
It kicked off around 3pm when Hollye and I first saw each other then
we went out on our skateboards for some creative wedding portraits with our
photographers DQ Studio and F8.
After some family photos it was time to get the ceremony moving. Our good friend Paul Tootalian conducted the ceremony complete with Eagle feather in his hair to represent his Lakota family. Immediately following his announcement that I may kiss my bride, the horn of the "Thunderbird"
could be heard in the distance on the lake. This incredibly
unique and historical boat picked us up on the pier for a 30min once
in a lifetime sunset cruise around the lake. Lucky for us, our friends Dave and Quin from DQ Studio could come too!
Upon our return to shore we were escorted away to a hiding place
while the guests got settled in the reception tent and our band,
Livewire, kicked
things off. On the way there I managed to rub against the tire of the
car that drove us away, at the same time I brushed up against some
"star-gazer" lillis - not such a good thing for a white linen suit. So with a big
tire stain in the front and big red stamen stain on the back of my pants,
Hollye (whose dress stayed impeccable and beautiful ALL night!!!) and I made
our grand entrance to start it off right! Dinner was perfect and dancing
ensued. We didn't stop all night till the cake cut and the band played till
11pm.Without missing a beat, our friend and noted San Francisco DJ, DJ
Solomon, took over the dance floor till the wee hours of the night. Just like
Sol's grooves, we ended the night on the highest and most positive vibes
possible.
Sunday was a fabulous, Southern-style brunch, influenced by Hollye's
mom Sallye's roots in Nashville. We spent the day saying bye to family
and friends in total exhaustion from the prior 3 days. Monday morning we
started our abbreviated mini-honeymoon by taking the most beautiful drive
ever to Yosemite National Park. There we stayed 3 nights at 4 star Bed and
Breakfast Chateau du Sureau and got some well needed rest! In Yosemite we biked and hiked and saw a bear and lots of deer, as well as 30 foot wide trees in the Giant Sequoia
park on the Southern end of Yosemite Valley.
Quite a whirlwind of events!
